ELIGIBILITY FOR STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

All members of this, the Raleigh/Durham Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, are also members of the Association of Legal Administrators. For information concerning membership in the national ALA, please visit the organization's website at www.alanet.org. 

*Participation by all members on one or more Teams is encouraged. Please indicate your interests below by selecting in order of preference which you would be interested in serving.

TEAM DESCRIPTIONS

Educational Programs Team: Responsible for providing quality programs to the membership in response to member interests, securing meeting facilities and arranging food for monthly Chapter meetings, distributing program notices, and coordinating with the Business Partners Team to arrange sponsors for each meeting.

Business Partner Relations Team: Responsible for promoting and maintaining strong relationships with our Business Partners in order to enhance the services and benefits available to Chapter members and strengthen the Chapter's economic base. This Team serves as a liaison between several of the Chapter's Teams when coordinating activities which require Business Partners' participation.

Salary & Benefits Survey Team: Responsible for overseeing the biennial Salary & Benefits Survey for the Raleigh-Durham Area Chapter.

Communications & Website Team: Responsible for developing formats for sharing information with the membership, publicizing Chapter information, and enhancing the visibility of the Chapter at the local, regional, and national levels.

Community Connection Team: Responsible for researching, organizing, and implementing Chapter volunteer opportunities within the community.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility Team: Responsible for coordinating with other Teams to ensure members see and feel our committment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in everything we do, including programming, fostering collaborative experiences, and developing a pipeline program for student members.

New Member Team: Responsible for soliciting new members, providing membership information to potential members, and welcoming new members into the organization.

Mental Health & Wellness Team

• The Raleigh-Durham ALA Chapter offers student member grants to a maximum of eight (8) student members each year to cover ALA National dues ($49) as well as local Chapter dues ($50).
• While membership is open to all students with an interest in legal administration or paralegal careers, to be considered for a membership grant, students will have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours and will write a brief 100-200 word essay on their interest in this career field.
• Student members who receive a Chapter membership grant will commit to attending (in-person or virtually) a minimum of three 1-hour educational Chapter meetings per year.
